The wolf familiar sighed, and if someone looked at him just afterwards, they would have seen that the act had taken more out of him than he had let on. Calla realized that speaking to a couple of people did not strain him. However, sending out to a very large room, with as much force as he had took quite a bit of strength. It was impressive, but it was also tiring.
Like you and Calla, I am still quite alive, whatever body I happen to be in. I still need to eat, and, depending on how food is made, I can quite enjoy it. The trade off is that, like a wolf, I don't need to eat every day, so long as I am not overdoing things. He lay on the floor, lowering his head to his paws. I'm going to have a headache for a short time, though. Broadcasting my thoughts over such a large number can be...draining. And I should apologize to you and Al. It had not been my intent to startle you. I forget sometimes that not everyone is used to mental speech.
Calla rubbed Greystreak's head. "Rest, my friend. I don't think we'll have any more trouble in terms of service." She picked up the menu and was reading it when Nerys asked about a possible choice. "I'm thinking of starting off with the potato soup myself. Simple and filling. After that, maybe some fish and vegetables. What about you?"
