"There was a war?" Iphie didn't know about that. She had led a sheltered life even before being sentenced to a life of general isolation. "The worst we ever had up north were a few bandit gangs that would try and steal supplies. Of course my daddy was the one who got pulled in for the groups that drove them out so I don't know much about what happened." She tried to remember, it seemed like a lifetime ago. "I remember there was a big fuss about fingers or something and that got a lot of people fighting but it wasn't a war or nothing."
"Seems like a lot of you people out here have been in one." She thought back to Toph who had shared a few stories with her. She couldn't help but wish she were in one. At least there she'd know what she was supposed to do rather than sit around trying to figure out whether or not she was going to be allowed to live.

"Yeah, used ta be all we had to worry 'bout was a few bandits." she nodded, "Every once or so often a few of 'em got the bright idea of runnin' together an' you'd have to go full force ta bust 'em up. But, that was 'fore them damn Bloodthornes popped up."
So, there were other soldiers? That made sense. She had been a bit isolated, herself. Whatever else was going on in the world Dusty had not heard a great deal about it. She would really need to read up on some recent history.
"Heh, so a few war heroes are in the castle, huh?" Dusty grinned, "I'll have ta chat with 'em some time. Share stories of stupid decisions that ya somehow make it out of."

"Bloodthornes? Sounds like somebody had too much fun naming themselves. Though I bet they were really bad if they managed to keep people from saying that with a smile." She began to do some stretches she had seen others doing, even if she was talking there would be more practice ahead and she didn't want to lose mobility. She really did want to show off to Dusty and really like the fact that somebody was impressed with what she did.

"Oh, believe me, I wish they were just some joke." Dusty watched as Iphie got up to stretch. She was certainly an eager student. "That bunch, though. Crazier than a frothin' gremlin. I seen some in action. Just ain't natural."
Rising to her own two feet, Dusty performed a couple of quick stretches, herself. Break time was just about over and it was time to get back to some drills.
"But, 'nough war stories. If ya wanna hear tales, ya gotta buy my me some whiskey!" the detective grinned, "An' right now I'm on the clock! So get that shield! I got a few moves I wanna show ya!"

Iphie picked up her shield and spun it around before putting it on, the heavy object made a little whoosh as it cut through the air. "Yes ma'am." She was glad the armorer had made the adjustment for the metal straps covered in leather and cloth. Regular leather strips like other shields had couldn't have kept the strain of the heavy metal shield. Sure they were less comfortable, but that is what the cloth coverings were for.

"Then let's get to it!"
Dusty wasted little time, before returning to the offensive. She was much more mobile, this time around, going in and out at random intervals. In addition, the detective was making attempts to flank Iphie and get around to where she wasn't guarded. These manuevers were done on the opposite hand her shield was attached to, making the former enforcer reach with her shield.
