The mountain scenery flashed like a photo negative, black became white and white became black. For just a fraction of a second it seemed as though the apocalypse was coming(with an odd accompanying loud ringing of well... quite a few clocks) and just as quickly as the phenomenon appeared, it disappeared and all went back to normal. Except for the sudden appearance of a hill and a house on the hill. A lady all clad in red was making her way out the door. In her hand was clad a leather bound book and she also held a feathered pen.
"No, no, no, not again!" She yelled out loud as she looked around her new surroundings. She had jumped again... Just when she thought she could maybe fall in love again, that it was alright for her to love someone else. Then again it's not like the clocks in here ever listened to her anymore-even though she was a part of it, jumping into a different era just as soon as she gets comfortable in one. She frowned maybe there was a magic mountain around here that could return her first love to her. With that in mind she retired inside her home, she couldn't walk very far away from her house... so she had to calculate just how much of the land was actually accessible to her.
After finalizing the calculations on some machine, she nodded satisfied by the result. She could visit the city... but the palace was off limits, it was too far away. With a newly made map of only places she has access to, she walked out into the world. No sense holing herself up in her home, there was exploring to do and ways-to-bring-back-the-dead to find. So with her parasol over her head, she walked down her hill onto the rugged mountain terrain. Just in time to see a young woman in a ridiculous hat surrounded by six brass soldiers. Ah! Someone to talk to. Perhaps she'd know when she was and whether the mountains over in the distance carried some type of magic dead-reanimating artifacts.
((I feel like this could fit into your thread, "Trial of the Clock-Guards. Hope you don't mind me starting a new thread.))

What am interesting curiosity. Before her trials could even begin, a most peculiar anomaly had transpired. All thoughts of her Clock-Guard went to the back of her mind as Zdena examined the brand new features that had joined the landscape. A hill, a home and a lady in red. And the sound of clocks.
It was as if her inspiration had walked up and said "Hello!" right into her ear. The Clock-Guard stood silent, having not yet been activated. Their wait would continue until Zdena had a better understanding of the current events.
Fortunately the lady in red was walking straight towards her. Good, that meant she could begin an interview almost immediately. Zdena did have work she still needed to get to, after all.
"Good morning." she greeted, "Are you aware of the odd manifestation that has resulted in your presence? I would enjoy asking you about it."

“Is it that odd?” She asked frowning as she turned back to look at her home. Indeed it did look quite odd, the grassy slopes didn't quite blend in with the rocky surroundings of the place. “I can sort of hear it from inside the house. All the clocks start ringing and the bell rings thirteen times. I guess I've never bothered with the visual effects. Tell me what does it look like from where you stand? Oh and I'd rather appreciate it, if you told me what year this is...”
The girl she was talking to... Angelina couldn't get help but feel like she's seen her before. At least the pumpkin looked familiar enough... Where did she see her... Whatever her name is. “Oh right. Excuse my manners, I am Angelina Rosea, or Countess Van Zeit. Whichever one you use is fine by me.” She curtsied gracefully. “And yours?”

The year? That was a question that caused Zdena to pause for a moment. In the meantime, introductions had to be made.
"A pleasure, Countess." she said with a light bow of her head, "I am Zdena Kardos Kilvorion, Marquess of District 13 and Vice President of Rom Royal Industrial."
Now to address the questions, "It was all quite sudden. But the sound of clocks was rather noticeable. Much with the hill and the house it is all rather out of place. Oh, yes, I do recall a rather odd distortion in my vision. Perhaps it was a mere hallucination, or it could be the result of your emterance into this current space. Now then, as for the year, it is the 703rd year of the foundation of Volisov. I do not have any other calendar reference, I am sorry to say."
She spoke frankly and calmly. As if hills, houses and women just sprouting of thin air was a common occurance.

“703... That's not so far from my time.” She murmured a little surprised, that didn't seem so far away from her own time... Or was it? When was her year of birth again? Oh wait... If Rom Royal Industrial was still present this year than that means she was in the past. Right. “I've heard of Rom Royal Industrial.”She said taking out her pocket-watch and ran her finger down the side, over the grooves of its shell where the familiar Rom Royal Industrial logo was inscribed. “I have to say, your pocket-watches are amazing.” Angelina said opening the shell showing her the face of the watch. It looked like it had stopped working a long time ago, the minute hand and the hour hand were frozen in space, still the Countess looked like the watch not moving was supposed to happen.
“I wouldn't say I entered into this space. I'd rather say that my house reappeared into the same space it always occurred, years before it was built.”

Years before it was built...
The implications of that statement were fascinating. Zdena examine the watch and it was, indeed a product of RRI and it had long ceased to function.
"When, might I ask, was this watch purchased." she inquired. If what she was thinking was true, than it would be a very odd answer. But one she was looking forward to. There were far too many products for one person to remember....fortunately she held an entire database of information in her hands.
This model was only released a few years ago, Miss Zdena. Effie thought. Zdena nodded.

"It was a present from my wife." she answered without looking up at her. If she remembered correctly, it should have been at the most 100 years before her birth and then one adds 50 years to that for the day of her wife's death, give or take a few years. "Her very last present, so I'd put the time at at least 150 years after." A sad expression flashed across her features for just a second before she smiled again. "Enough with these depressing thoughts, would you like to step into my home? You're just in time for tea and we could have this interview you were so eager to have."
She pulled out another pocket-watch, this time the face of the clock was replaced by a map of sorts. "Mhmm it seems I was wrong. This is where the summer palace used to be. Guess you were right Miss Zdena. My house did invade this space."

"I would enjoy that." she said. And her suspicions were confirmed. What a rare opportunity, this was. A watch, made only a few years ago was actually around 150 years old. A visitor from the future.
Time travel. Everything she had been doing do far was mere child's play. Could anything in magic or science do this? Not from what she had observed thusfar.
"Is this magic or science." she started her inquiry before they entered the home, "It is a truely remarkable feat. Even Lady Kaja Kilvorion's accomplishments pale in comparison."

She led her into her house, frowning at the state of disorder inside. The lack of visitors must have done it. No maids to clean the house nor were there anyone to show her house to and as time went by she must've gotten used to the constant mess. "Excuse me, it has been a while since anyone besides me has stepped into my home." She gave her a quick apology before moving to the kitchen. At least she still had tea and cake... Yes those were some rather comforting ideas.
Angelina motioned for her to sit at a table, as she pulled out an extra chair. Then with an oomph she pushed the pile of machine parts and diagrams off the top of the table. "Might have to clean that... Do you mind not having a table cloth? I think I used my last one to clean the cogs in the great clock." She said pointing at the ceiling, or more exactly, the clock tower.
"Right back to your questions. I think it's magic that trapped me in an incessant time travel. Well I guess these clocks had to do with it as well." She said pulling out her pocket-watch again. "If you're interested let me show you something." She stood up and walked up the stairs expecting Zdena to follow her up.

Following her hostess in, she noted the state of disarray the home was in. It was not unlike a cluttered workplace. Zdena felt a touch of respect for someone so clearly dedicated to their work.
As she took the offered seat, she went over a few of the diagrams and examined some of the pieces before they were cleared off. She looked up at the Countess, "I have managed to survive in less sanitary conditions." Zdena nodded. The flat tone did not indicate the joke that statement was intended to be. Zdena COULD be funny...but those instances were so few and far between that most people were unable to notice.
"Magic? How fascinating." she said, "It truly is a useful tool. If only I could get a better understanding."
As Angelina rose and made way towards the stairs, Zdena followed as predicted. The curious inventor was quite interested in thisittle problem of her hostess. So much, that she even forgot about her latest creations that were now standing guard by her carriage.

"Yes... If only I could get a better understanding of it, maybe I would have gotten somewhere with my search." The stairs led all the way to a landing, on which stood a single door. She unlocked it and opened the door. Putting her finger to her lip she quietly walked inside.
There was a bed with a night table on one side and... Oh yes... A girl lying on the bed with the covers drawn up. Angelina pulled up two chairs and she sat down in one looking at her. "She's the reason I'm travelling through time." She said and turned to look at her. "Remember the pocket-watch? This is why it stopped. I had to freeze her in time... Or you know... Her body will start to decompose." She said and put a hand to the sleeping girl's cheek. She slowly smoothed out a strand of hair and watched her gesture not register at all. "Yes... I guess frozen in time is a good way to put it. Would you like to know my story?"

Zdena followed along inside. The room was rather uninteresting, in and of itself. But the girl in the bed was another story. She walked right up as Angelina explained her predicament. Zdena examined her closely. There were no signs of life whatsoever. Nor were there any signs of decay, either.
Part of her felt a sense of relief. An RRI product should last for quite along time. The fact that it took a magical spell to stop it, spoke to the quality of the craftsmen they employed. But, there was an even bigger issue at hand, than the functionality of watches.
She looked up to Angelina, "Yes, I would be very interested." she said, "Locking her in time was a very resourceful decision. It is also quite effective. What was the cause of death, if you don't mind my asking."

"I won't bother you with details of my life before I met her. Believe me it's all rather boring. I wasn't gay and I didn't build clocks. Terrible waste of my youth." Angelina said shrugging as she gave another superfluous pat on her head. "The girl lying here is my wife. After our marriage, I stopped working on maintaining my clocks and stopped working in general. You know living like an idiot, without a care in the world. So for our anniversary she told me to meet her up in the spot we first fell in love. When I got there I found her not there. Waiting there it got boring rather quickly, so I started to walk around. Sadly I found a note... Apparently because my clocks fell into disuse, they couldn't keep the time anymore and so I actually arrived there an hour late. She told me, through the note, that she was leaving and if I was to come well she would be home waiting for me." She paused here and frowned. "Here is where it gets confusing... She never came home. So I stayed there and searched the whole forest... For weeks on end, I looked for any sign of her... I did finally. A neatly wrapped package with a note, telling me to be punctual." She stood up and motioned for her to follow her back to the ground floor. "I spent the next 30 years working on my clocks, giving them clockwork precision, pun intended." and with a wave of her hand she showed her the various timekeepers around her. "As you can see. I succeeded and one night, I found my wife knocking at the door. We spent at most a few months together before I found her body on the floor. She was bringing me my breakfast in bed."
Turning over to her now that they had reached the table they were having them at, she smiled sadly. "Well I woke up the next day after grieving for her, and found myself in different surroundings. Of course I cursed the clocks and tried to break them. That was a bad idea, whatever damage I did to the clocks, showed up on my body. I guess I took that as a sign to start searching for something along the lines of a bring-dead-people-to-life potion."

Zdena listened patiently. It was an odd problem to be sure. There were a few details that seemed absent, but those would be addressed in due time. A clock builder from the future and her deceased wife are stuck traveling in time. And, it seemed the damaged locks were partly to blame. But how did it all fit together?
"I see." Zdena looked off for a moment, as she pondered the information, "I am unaware of such a potion's existence. There have been other approaches to this problem, though there have been no successes. At least not to my knowledge."
A cure for death. That would probably be the single most important discovery one could make. Was there another way? Was this something that science could do thatagic failed at?
"This is an intriguing dilemma." she said, "I shall endeavor to find a solution. Though, working with biological life is not a topic I am well versed in. But..maybe there are alternatives. The royal library should have texts that could prove very illuminating."

"I guess I should've gone to the future." She groaned glaring at the clocks. "If only they'd let me." She said pointedly and turned her attention back to her tea. Taking a sip she shook her head in disappointment.
"The royal library... It must have some interesting books on magic." She nodded as she looked out the window. "Maybe there could be a cure to be found in those mountains. I guess I'll never find out." Her gaze dropped and turned back to Zdena. Some cogs fit together in her mind and a plan formed. "You! You could know! Of course! You CAN go to the library and find out about it! If you'll help me that is."
