Toph normally couldn't 'see' peoples expressions, but Sable and her strange glow proved to be the exception. It was a beautiful smile, she though, even coming from an exhausted face. Toph found herself smiling in return.
Her smile faltered a bit at that last part. "I... can try," she said finally. "But earthbenindg is in natural ability, usually inherited through a family line. A person can either do it or they can't. Proficiency, efficiency, and general awesomeness depends on how well a person trains and practices, but without the inborn power..." Toph shrugged.
"In any event I will try. And thank you for agreeing to teach me in turn." Toph stood. "But I've kept you both up far to late already. You've been great sports about the whole thing, but I can feel the weariness in your bodies. We can pick up this conversation and begin lessons at a more reasonable hour."
Toph crossed the room toward the door, but paused before opening, turning back to face Sable. "This is going to sound weird," she confessed in advance, "but I don't often get the chance to say it as normally I can't 'see' facial expressions, so.... You have a very pretty smile, Princess Calla."

Whether Toph could see the Druid's blush or not, Calla did not know. "Th-thanks," she said shyly. "Let me know when you would like to start. I have a couple of days before I have to present myself to the Royal Family. We might be able to get some time in during that time. And certainly as my duties allow after that."
She stood and made a formal bow to Toph. "Good night, Baroness," she said sincerely. Oddly, Greystreak followed suit, lifting one front leg and lowering himself slightly. It was one of the few times she could remember him giving his version of a bow.

Toph offered a flawless curtsy in response to the bow of the princess and her familiar.
"Goodnight to you as well, Princess Calla. Although... its just Toph if you please. My title is mine by birth alone, and it has opened a door or two, but I have done little to deserve it."
She titled her head slightly toward Greystreak. "And a pleasant night to you as well, Greystreak." she added. As he was clearly a thinking creature, it would be rude to disregard him as though he were a mere pet.
With a final nod to Calla, Toph slipped out the door, shutting it behind her. Her earthsight could still see the glowing princess of course, but she chose not to pay attention to her and gave the woman her privacy as she headed fro her own room.
