"In the Mishkani Empire," Kizzy began, slowly, "two women... marrying... it is not done. Also, the Mishkani people are very religious, and they revere the Goddess, Jaleh, above all others." She looked thoughtful for a moment. "I have not been keeping up in my prayers like I should." The girl closed her eyes, and gently touched her eyelids with her fingers. "That is what we do when we wish to attract Jaleh's attention."
Kizzy blushed, worried that she seemed strange to the other woman. "Do you have... similar customs here in Terre de Conte?" she asked shyly.

Jo listened to the young woman's description of this far off land. It sounded intriguing, certainly, but she wasn't sure she would be off visiting any time soon. After all, she did have a preference to the land of Terre de Conte. And more importantly, the roads. Stirring up trouble in some other country on unfamiliar territory? That sounded like a quick way to get caught.
"How interesting!" she declared, "Ah, but we have all sorts of customs. Especially, here in Venus. What with this being a capitol city and all, we get all manner of travelers. As for the people, themselves, I suppose they are quite varied. Oh and with the Princess' little get together we're going to see so much more! I must say, I am very excited to see just who accepts our dear Princess' invitation! I hear they're coming in from all over the place."
A waitress strolled up to their table, "Are you ready to order?"
"Ah, not quite, I'm afraid." Jo looked up with an approving smile at their attractive waitress, "But, how about we start off with a bottle of your finest wine. I think today feels like a Merlot, wouldn't you say?"

"Um, alright," Kizzy said, unsure if the question was aimed at her or the waitress who was, indeed, rather pretty. Looking at the pretty waitress, Kizzy felt the funny feeling in her stomach she had felt earlier-- the one she only feels while thinking about a special girl....
Though she didn't really know Jacqueline, Kizzy felt she could trust her with such a thing, and asked, tentatively, "Do you ever get a fluttering in your stomach when you think of someone?" She paused; that wasn't the right question and she knew it. So she blurted it out: "Do you get that feeling when... when you think about girls?" She took a deep breath and continued, "It happens to me all the time but I'm a girl so I'm supposed to like boys, right?"
Kizzy looked down at the table, blushing at her boldness. "I'm sorry to ask so strange a question, but I-- I have to know!"

The urge to burst out with an uproarious laugh, as she was prone to doing, was probably the most challenging aspect of her interaction with the servant girl. Especially after her last question. Oh, if Kizzy only knew...
Instead, Jo opted for a bemused smirk as she listened to the "problem" that she was outlining. "Oh?" Jo said at the conclusion, "Well, my dear, the good news is that I find nothing wrong with it! However, as it is with most things, I believe that answers to those questions are always subjective. But, if it's advice you want..."
She leaned back in her chair and gave Kizzy a glance over, before chuckling to herself, "Well, dear, I'm always of the mindset to just go with it." she leaned back in, "So...this little fluttering of yours...is it for a specific lucky lady...or is it more of a general feeling?"

Kizzy blushed, barely believing she had the nerve to bring up such a topic with, virtually, a complete stranger. "It's a general feeling...." she said slowly. "Back home there was another slave, Iskra was her name, she was older than me, but we shared living quarters. She was beautiful and all the men wanted her... but, she was like-- like me, and prefered girls... One time, we were alone, and Iskra kissed me... it was like my world was on fire, but in a good way. That's what love feels like, right?"
Kizzy looked down at the table. "I suppose I'll never see her again...." She looked back up at Jacqueline, eyes shining. "So there's nothing wrong with me? Thank the Goddess!"

Love? She supposed that could qualify. For a moment, Jo took pause to consider whether or not she had actually felt "love". A smirk crossed her features as the former slave peeked back up at her.
"Ho ho, not at all!" she said, the brief question that had entered her mind had left just as quickly, "Now then, permit me to treat you to an exquisite meal without such existential crises. You are much than fine, my dear. And with such a lovely day, I will ensure that you continue to have a wonderful time in our fair city!"

"O-okay," Kizzy said. "I'm sorry to have asked you such silly questions." Right then, her stomach growled, and rather audibly, at that. She blushed. "Pardon me...."
Kizzy looked out the window at the ships in the harbor, thinking of all the people coming and going on those ships. Surely, she thought, in this big city, I can find someone to love. Her thoughts wandered back to the other slave, Iskra, and the moments they'd shared together. It nearly brought her to tears, but Kizzy was determined not to be depressed. This was a new start for her, and she was going to make the most of it.

"Oh, nonsense...it wasn't a bother at all!" Jo smiled, pleasantly and leaned back in her chair. She looked the former slave over a few more times as she stared out the window.
"So, my dear, what sort of meal are we in the mood for, today?" Jo inquired, following the other's gaze out to the harbor. There certainly would be a great deal of newcomers to the country. And with all of the guests to the castle, Jo was certain that she could find at least a few fun targets out on the road.
