This time Toph was ready.
Calla had only begun to tip to one side before Toph was in motion, catching her before she passed the tipping point. The earth she had bent -- she had really done it! -- slipped from her fingers, but Toph 'caught' it with her own bending, and hovered in the air next to her earthen star.
"Gotcha," she said to the unconscious woman ans she cradled her in her own arms. "Chi manipulation can really take it it of you if you arent used to it," she spoke aloud for Greystreak's benefit. "I though she would just feel a little extra drowsy before bed. I didn't expect this."
Toph gave Calla a once over with her earthsight. "Heartbeat's fine, so is her breathing. A little raged, but not labored.'' She inclined her head toward the wolf slightly. "How's her noggin, Grey? She all there and just napping on us?"

She's fine, Greystreak said after a moment's examination. Exhausted, to say the least. Not that I'm surprised. She can be stubborn that way at times. She probably should have stopped after the power flare she had in discovering her chi. She just needs a little rest.
I am concerned, however, about how this might complicate things for her as a Druid. To my knowledge, there has never been a Druid capable of doing this 'Earthbending' of yours. At least without specific spells that somewhat duplicate the ability. If this is an inborn talent of hers, it might actually redefine what Druids could be capable of.
He was quiet for a few moments, his yellow eyes gazing off in the distance, in seeming contemplation. Tell me, Toph, are there those capable of bending the other classically recognized elements of air, fire and water?

"Sure," Toph replied. "In my corner of the world, the people are more split into four nations. Each one is built and centered around of the four elements. Earthbenders like me are from the Gaia Kingdom. The Water Tribe, seafarers who make their home near the north pole, are the keepers of Waterbending. During the war, they were our closest allies."
Toph scooped the limp Calla into a honeymooners carry. "Then there were the Air Nomads. They were all spiritual about everything and were pretty much useless to us in the war. They chose to remain neutral, which is just code for coward if you ask me. They must have been doing something right though. Unlike the rest of the other four nations, every last member of their society was an Airbender."
Toph folded her long legs underneath her, and with a small grunt of effort, stood up with Calla in her arms. "Then, there's the Fire Nation,"she went on with bitterness in her voice. Keepers and practitioners of Firebending. A little over 100 years ago, they ended the long time peace between the four nations by starting a war of conquest that only ended four years ago."
She took a deep breath, then let it out. The war was long over, but just talking about the fire nation made her blood boil. The thing they did.. to her home.. to her.
To Cera...
"There was a legend, " Toph went on. "Even older than the War, about a person who could control all four elements and bend them to his will. The Avatar they called him. Or her. He was charged with maintaining balance and peace between the four nations...but that was just a fairy-tale. You'd be amazed, though how many idiots kept preying for his or her return while the Fire nation burned down their homes and fields around them. They would have been better served picking a sword and fighting."
Toph took another deep breath, again calming herslef, "What's say we get sleeping beauty here back to her room, huh Grey? Then I'll see about that steak I owe ya."

Good idea. I think we can consider your formal lessons on Druids concluded today. As for your teaching Calla about Earthbending, I think we can conclude the same.
He stretched and shook his fur as he rose to his feet. I think you will make a good friend for Calla, Baroness...Toph. She is in need of them. The life of a Druid is a lonely one and the life of a Royal Princess who is also a Druid can be even more so. In addition to her duties as a Druid, she has to be an heir to the throne as well. It is hard to make honest friends with that between people.
He began walking toward the Castle proper. Speaking of between people, I'll alert the guards along the way. The last thing we need is someone thinking that you had done her harm, when it was her own efforts that knocked her out. If you wish, I could take some time and find a servant or two to bring dinner while you watch over her. He turned and offered her a very obvious canine smile. Assuming of course that you don't mind helping her change into some bed clothes while I'm gone. After all, I don't have the hands to do it, and it'll be much more comfortable for her than sleeping in her formal Druidical togs.

Toph gestured in the air with the hand currently under Calla's knees, and her star-shaped clump of earth vanished back into the ground. Calla's sphere however, rose to roughly her shoulder level and floated obediently in the air behind them as they made for the castle.
The thought of undressing, then regressing an unconscious Calla did have a certain appeal. Its not like she didn't already now what the other woman looked like naked...her blush this time was a slight one, merely coloring the her cheekbones for a second or too before she banished the thought. Fact was, it was partially her fault that Calla had worked herself into this state, so keeping an eye on her was only right.
"You'll never here me turn down food, Grey," she said, lips curled in her trademark smirk. "I'll get her highness all changed, you score us some meat. Its a deal."

This should make finding our room much easier. The Familiar projected a quick flash of a mental map into Toph's mind. He knew her blindness was not a true limitation for her to get around, but she had only visited their room once. Additionally, he had projected a mental 'map', not a visualization of each corridor. That should let you get there. I believe the room is currently unlocked.
Then, suddenly, there was a change in the tone of Grey's voice. The somewhat patronizing tone softened, and he stopped to turn around and look up at Toph. Please, take care of Calla. Though technically she is my Ward and I am her Familiar, she is more than that to me. She is my best friend...and the closest thing that I will ever have to a daughter. If I seem sometimes harder on her or a tad more overprotective than I should be, well, now you understand why.
Then the more formal tone was back, with a clearing of his mental voice. I'll go ahead and get things in motion. Thank you, Toph. For everything. With that, the wolf lived up to his name and took off.
((I know you have the moratorium on new threads until you finish old ones, but I would love to have to the two of them have some bonding time, since I can remove Greystreak for a bit. However, if you want to leave it here, I'll understand.))
