It was a beautiful day. Perfect for any kind of welcoming party right? If only she were welcoming anyone other then another suitor. Nonetheless Freja forced a pretty smile and awaited outside for the new meat...er...guest.
Freja insisted to Anactoria that she would personally greet the new guest herself, and her silly cousin agreed. This was a perfect way for Freja did get some fresh air and a brand new outlook on the competition.
And what she could do to annihilate them.
So Freja, with a spring in her step and a glitter in her eyes waited outside the castle for the new suitor with a few guards and saw a simple but pretty white carriage pull up with the new guest inside.
Once that silly girl who thinks she can take my Annie away from me steps outside, I'll soon teach her how to act around here.

Jennifer Minakawa goads her brown travel horse to take the final steps for the castle once it's in sight. Her shield covers her horse's flank, and her helmet rests at her side, letting her hair flow freely in the cool beautiful breeze. Nervous as she is, she smiles at the final length of her trip. First impressions are so very important. Jen thanks the heavens that the day is so fair; even if she can hardly be blamed for the capriciousness of the clouds, a wet bedraggled maiden would scarcely impress even a farmer, much less royalty.
It seems word of Jen's journey and goal has traveled ahead of her. She would scarcely expect the gate to even be opened for her without trouble, yet here stands someone to greet her! Jen hails the other girl with a wave as she approaches, slowing down the horse gently before stepping off her saddle. Her armor jingles a bit as she hits the ground.
"Hail and well met," she says, bowing, her disposition as sunny as the day that brings her here. "You have my gratitude for coming out to meet so humble an arrival. Jennifer Minakawa is my name, here to try my hand and heart in the contest of her highness the princess's making."

Freja, like a good girl, greeted and smiled Jennifer. She curtsied and took Jennifer's hand,"How do you do?"Freja wouldn't lie. Jennifer WAS pretty. Very pretty, but that didn't make her deserving of her dearest Annie any time soon.
The guards took up Jennifer's things and took them inside, and Freja followed. "I'm Freja, I'm Anactoria's cousin. If you have any messages to her, please tell me."this was a lie, but Freja figured it would be smart to intercept messages between the two.
Freja led Jennifer over to two chairs where a certain fox and vampire had sat a few nights ago, and sat her down. "I'm curious to know more about you..."a maid came in and placed down a tray of tea on the small table between them. "I have many questions. Where do you come from? Why do you want to marry my cousin? What do you think about masochism? Do you love reading? Your favorite foods?"
Freja suddenly paused and began to giggle,"Excuse me I ask far too many questions. Please forgive me. I'm just a bit...excited about a new guest."she said resting her chin on her hand.

Jen cooperates gratefully with the castle guards. The hospitality of the royal house is greater than word makes of it, much to Jennifer's relief. She had feared her horse would go hungry ere Jen found who would take care of him.
When Freja explains her lineage Jen pauses with a start. "Pray forgive me, I knew not that a lady of the royal family would meet me outside the gates. It is an honor to make the acquaintance of your majesty." But then, at least this woman would not be a rival, not unless the Princess thought to marry within the family. And then, why invite suitors from afar?
The seating and tea would do much to relieve the weariness of Jen's travels if not for Freja's many questions. No doubt she asks to report to her cousin, the crown princess. "I come from Artol, to the north. A small duchy but dear to my heart and the hearts of my family. I seek to marry your cousin because..."
Jen speaks slower but resolute. "The fortune of my family hangs by a hair. Though they have some small rulership, the slightest misstep would cast us into poverty, for we have little save our meager titles. Yet even should we have wealth beyond the greatest of dragons, I would still seek her highness's favor. Many lifetimes would pass before such an adventure would return to the kingdom. And Her Highness the Princess...I cannot rightly speak my feelings before my own eyes and ears testify in her favor, but if the word of the land is half-true then who could not love her, having seen her?"
The following question, however, proves a nasty poser for Jen. "I do not properly understand your meaning in 'masochism,' your majesty. I seek your forgiveness for my ignorance." The rest gives Jen the chance to recover her senses.
"I do love reading, and perhaps writing even more. The art of letters had captured me when I was half so tall, and I have labored to improve my script since. And my taste for food comes from the rich grains and fruits of Artol, there are breads there which can scarcely be found across the country. I am no master of that craft, but my mother would have much to teach." Jennifer reaches for a drink of tea to help keep herself steady. Her first hour in the castle is certainly a trial, though not of the sort Jen had foreseen.

Freja listened intently to the suitor as she went on speaking. Nodding and taking in what she said. So far Jennifer seemed....completely normal. Nothing about her really stuck out as odd to Freja like some of the suitors she ended up kicking out.
"I'm so sorry to hear about your family's situation,"Freja smiled and patted Jennifer's hand to show her concern,"I assure you your prayers are with me." Freja decided it would be easy to break this one, nothing about her seemed...suspicious after all.
"Although there is one think about that piqued my interest..."Freja spoke her thought out loud believing it to be completely harmless. Suddenly the color of her eyes became a paler blue and she leaned in to wards Jennifer, raising an eye brow. "You said you didn't know what masochism is..."the dominatrix smirked,"Would you like me to show you?"

Jennifer has a certain love of knowledge which is normally one of her strengths. She sees nothing strange about Freja, indeed she places blame on herself for not thinking that she would be asked questions upon reaching the castle. Freja's manner of speech is somewhat strange to her, but she was warned before leaving Artol that words change as one travels.
"I, I thank you for your kindness, your majesty," Jen says, not seeing the meaning in Freja's eyes. And yes, I would like to know the meaning of masochism, if you would be so gracious as to show me." After all, if she had asked about it, it must be important to the contest for the princess's hand, surely!

"Well then...let me show you."Freja's smirk transformed into a grin as she stood up from her chair and extended her hand to Jennifer, almost expecting her too take it. "But I have to warn you my lessons are a bit...hard to teach."
