Having set the folded Sari down on the stone chair she had made earlier, Toph pretend to wave the compliment away, though the color on her cheeks gave away how she was really feeling. "You should check me out when I actually try to dress up. I've been told I'm quite stunning then."
Toph feet grazed against the floor, and in now time she could find the hazy blur that could only be the bed. She took a seat on the edge, and her hands went up, undoing her braid.
"Crap. Do yo have a hair brush I could borrow?" she asked. "I don't like sleeping with my hair braided..."
Which was technical true, but deep down Toph wondered if she was stalling.

"I'm a princess," Calla said with a haughtiness that was so out of place that it was obvious she was being facetious. "Of course, I have a brush." Having a brush was one thing; finding it was another. And her somewhat haphazard look for it indicated that she didn't really use it that often. "I just usually comb my hair and keep it short. There's nothing like having long, red locks that constantly get caught in branches and brush."
With a triumphant "Ah-ha!", Calla pulled the brush from under a set of books and scrolls she had been reading at her desk. "You're welcome to use it, Toph. If you want, I could brush it for you." Toph's blindness was not honestly the reason, but she was concerned that Toph might feel that was the case. It was going to be tricky, offering to help without making it seem as if Toph was helpless. Hopefully, Calla would find the balance before she accidentally offended the woman.

Toph opened her mouth to protest,, something along the lines of 'I can do that myself, thanks,' but closed it again. After everything that had happened today, was she really going to jump to that conclusion? Calla had been nothing but nice to her all days, this was just another example of it. The princess knew Toph could brush her own hair just fine, but offered to help anyway. Because she wnated to.
Toph smiled. "Sure," she said. "Fair warning though, it's kinda thick. Best to do it sections."

"Right," Calla agreed, as she gathered up a small section in one hand and readied the brush in the other. "I've brushed my mother's hair sometimes, and hers is pretty thick. Certainly thicker than mine." She started brushing as she spoke. "She's still a Druid, like me, but she's rarely if ever out in the field these days. As a result, the Queen's let her hair grow out quite a bit."
She hummed a random tune as she worked on Toph's dark locks. The Earthbender had been right about the thickness. In fact, Calla was surprised just how thick it was, especially once it was brushed out a bit. "You have beautiful hair, Toph. Black and silky." She sighed and ran her free hand through her own, while she brushed the top of the other woman's head. "I've just never really let mine grow out much since becoming a Druid, for the reasons I mentioned. But I do wish it was a wee bit thicker at times."

Calla certainly knew what she was doing; Toph barely felt any tangles as her hair was brushed out. If anything the whole experience was phenomenally soothing. Toph's sigh of contentment was out before it ever occurred to her to hold it back.
"The sell this shampoo at this spa over the fancy part of town that's supposed to do that," she said after a moment. "Gives your hair more 'body' whatever that means. Don't see how that works but whatever..."
There was silence for a moment or two before Toph continued. "Great, now curiosity is going to kill me if I dont try..."
She reached up into her hair as Calla made the next brush stroke, catching her writs lightly. Her face felt warm again. "Could I...she tried, then charged right on through. "Could I touch your hair?"

It was an odd question, even in a day of odd events. Calla tilted her head, unconsciously mimicking Greystreak's similar habit when he sometimes forgot he was a Familiar and simply fell back into lupine behaviors. Calla did not fight light grip on the Druid's wrists, however. It might have seemed odd to her, but Toph was finding many things probably just as odd, especially since she could 'see' Calla in a way she had not been able to with others.
"Certainly," she replied, lifting one hand up and bringing her head down to Toph's hand. "Though it can be a mess at times, I don't think the texture should scare you off. At least, not yet. But if you don't mind my asking, Toph, was there something interesting about my hair?"

Toph's fingers slid through Calla's hair just a bit before hitting a minor tangle, then stopped "I dunno," she replied quietly. "I just wnated to feel it. That... sounds kind of weird now that I've said it out loud, huh."
She withdrew her hand, found her way around the tangle and tried again. A sloight smile crossed her face and she added. "Feels great to me. Thick hair is overrated anyway." She withdrew her hand and placed it back n her lap. Her face still had yet to cool down.
(ugh, first post back, trying to get into the flow here...)

"Everyone has their own qualities," Calla said softly. "I might not always appreciate that sometimes, I fear. But I try to live by it as much as possible. I think your hair is very nice; you think my hair is the same. We're both right, from our own points of view. It's just hard for us to accept that the one finds something wonderful in the other."
She actually had enjoyed Toph's hand running through her hair, with the mixture of rough hands and a gentle, unsure touch. "That was nice," Calla confessed, turning to see Toph's blush. "Thank you."

The what on her face only intensified. "Whatcha thanking me for?" she asked. "I'm the one who just went all weird and curious on you. I should be thanking you." A pause, then she added. "Thanks."
With the hair brushing done, there was no more stalling to be had. With a slight stretch and a roll of her shoulders, Toph swung her feet into the bed and lay down. "I'd offer to get the light," she smirking as she looked up Calla. "But really its all dark in here to me already."
It was weird.. but now that she was actaully laying down, she was not nearly as nervous as she'd thought she'd be. Actually, what she was was tired... but comfortably so. Her smirk soften into a contented smile.
(getting better but not there yet...)

Though Toph's smirk was charming, it was truly the other woman's smile that was quite lovely. Calla returned the smile unconsciously, even though she wasn't really sure what, if any, of the movement Toph could sense. But it really didn't matter; her smile was contagious.
"Don't worry. I've got the light." The Druid muttered a word and made a brief gesture toward the room's lights. They flickered out a moment later, and the room was enveloped in darkness.
Which ironically made Calla a little nervous. She wasn't sure what Toph expected her to do. For that matter, she wasn't sure what she expected herself to do, as she slid under the covers. At the very least, though, she would be polite. "You know, I really did enjoy my time with you today, headaches, weird dreams and all."

As she felt Calla settle into bed, Toph scooted a bit closer to the other woman, though careful not to touch or crowd her, thinking that might be a bit much. "Well I'd be lying if I said this was how I thought today would go," said with a little laugh. "But all in all, I have to say I'm glad I decided to pound on your door in the middle of the night and wake you up, Sunshine."

The nickname made her smile, and Calla turned on her side slightly to face Toph. "Your timing could have been better, Chipmunk, but I'm not arguing. Though I will say that my thoughts at the time had me saying some very un-princesslike words. Amazing the things you learn from other Druids."

"Its been my experience that priestess, no matter what the faith, always know the best cruse words," Toph replied, with a slight giggle. "But I would say it all worked out okay. I mean, look we're right back were we started: Your bedroom. Full circle and all that."
Toph yawned. Long and loud. "Though I guess to really be even, I'd have to actually let you get some sleep this time instead of talking' your ear off."
With that Toph paused. "Do friends kiss each other goodnight?" she added as innocently as she could manage. Which wasn't very innocently at all.

Toph's yawn prompted one from Calla, though a bit softer. "I don't see why not," she answered sleepily. "It's an expression of affection." Heavily-lidded green eyes looked over at her friend. "The only question is what level of affection do you want to show."

Toph sleepily considered this for a moment or two, then scooted close enough to Calla for their bare legs to touch. She then intertwined the her legs with Calla's in a movement that was essentially unconscious, then brought her lips to Calla's.
It was soft, gentle kiss that never the less lasted quite sometime, somewhere between the peck that the situation called for and the deep kiss that she wanted to do.
After a time she pulled back. "Good night, Sunshine," she said as she settle back on the mattress. She made no move to untangle her legs from the other woman's.
