Sablerose, Crown Princess of Laurelmoon
FROM HERE TO THERE
FULL NAME: Calla Valerian
ALIAS / NICKNAMES: Sablerose (which she prefers to be called)
AGE: 19
BIRTHDATE: 11/11
RACE: Human
SOCIAL STATUS: Technically, a Crown Princess within her own realm of Laurelmoon, but all future rulers must be a Druid first, to ensure that they truly learn about their forest lands.
OCCUPATION:Druid and Princess
DOWN TO THE FINER POINTS
HEIGHT:5’5”
WEIGHT: 125 lbs
HAIR:Auburn
EYES: Cinnamon brown
GENERAL APPEARANCE:Slender and willowy, Sablerose is typical for a redhead: a sizable number of freckles on her face, especially around across the bridge of her nose and her cheeks, below her eyes. Despite her hair color, and the resultant fair skin, she actually has a bit of a tan, especially to her face, neck and hands. Her hands, though slim, are strong and somewhat calloused from the life of living in a forested kingdom like Laurelmoon, as well as being a druid.
Her thick, red hair is kept relatively short, falling about the middle of the back of her neck. Normally, her hair is unadorned, but occasionally she will wear a pair of eagle feathers in her hair, along with some twigs of holly. Her reddish-brown eyes are set under a pair of thick red eyebrows. Despite their relaxed appearance, Sablerose rarely fails to take in anything those eyes can spot. She has a full, wide mouth which is quite used to smiling.
As a Druid, she tends to prefer simple leather clothing, though she will wear clothing far more suited to her royal status…though only if the occasion calls for it.

PERSONALITY: Sablerose is level-headed and a tad mature for her age, due in part to the combination of her druidical duties and Greystreak, her familiar. She prefers know as much as she can about a situation before acting, but can act with surprising impulsiveness when the time calls for action. After several years under Greystreak’s ‘tutelage’, she does have a bit of a wry sense of humor. Like many of her folk, she’s not overly comfortable in large cities.
Because of that, she will look forward to any chance she can to find a spot of natural beauty; even a simple park can calm her nerves.
Surprisingly, she has a respectable mind for politics and political maneuvering, although she finds quite a bit of it distasteful. If there is any one failing that she has involving visiting even large cities, it is a rapacious appetite for books. It was the possibility of being able to have access to the libraries in the City of Venus that prompted her to volunteer in representing Laurelmoon’s support of their northern neighbor during this rather chaotic time.

HOBBIES:
Sablerose often carries a small wooden flute with her, which she plays well (despite her modesty about her own skills). She’s used it for activities beyond simple entertainment, such as signaling for aid and distracting the occasional monster before attacking. Given her love of reading, she can devour books at a phenomenal rate, depending on the subject matter, with those dealing magic in general and druidical magic in specific disappearing in hours for a good size book.
BELOW THE SURFACE
SPECIAL SKILLS: Sablerose has the normal skills of a trained druid, which include extensive botanical and zoological knowledge, wilderness survival skills and skill to become nearly invisible in a forest environment.
WEAPONS: Sablerose normally carries two main weapons. The first is a wooden staff, enchanted to be nearly as strong as steel despite its frail appearance. The second is a scimitar. Though skilled in both, she much prefers the staff to the blade. The third item she normally carries, a platinum sickle at her waist, a symbol of both her status as a Druid but also as a Druid in the royal family.
MAGICAL ABILITIES: Like all Druids, Sablerose has been trained in style of magic that focuses on nature, both offensively and defensively. However, because of her position as Royal Princess of Laurelmoon, she has been given additional training in understanding other magical styles, the better to defend her future realm. Her skills in these other styles vary considerably, though none of them approach her druidical skills.
She also is capable of speaking to and understanding any non-magical animal and possesses a telepathic/empathic bond with her familiar Greystreak.
FAMILY:Father: Daimont, Mother: Galena, Petre: Brother (5 years old)
BACKGROUND: Laurelmoon is a kingdom surrounded almost completely by forest. As a result, the first Forest King decreed that all members of the royal family in line for the throne must receive druidical training, to avoid a ruler from destroying the very forest around them, as well as to have the rule capable of bonding with the land.
Calla began her training when she was only ten years old and took to it with a rare passion. So much so, in fact, that there was an honest and reasonable concern that she would dedicate herself to following the path of a druid and forsake her position as Crown Princess, as had others in Laurelmoon’s past. Her parents worked very hard to ensure another heir, her younger brother Petre, just in case. However, Calla, or Sablerose which is her name taken as a Druid, has not decided one way or another. She loves her life as a druid but also recognizes her duty as a royal heir, and she has refused to let the latter dominate the way she lives.
When word came that the Princess of Laurelmoon’s northern neighbor Terre de Conte had returned after vanishing for some time, apparently due to some dispute over whom she would marry, Sablerose’s father, Daimont the current Forest King, decided that it was a good time to renew the ties with their neighbor. Surprisingly, Sablerose volunteered to go, despite her general dislike of large cities. Diamont, with his hope that his daughter would subsequently chose the path of becoming the Forest Queen rising, encouraged her interest, even letting her go well ahead of the servants just to make sure her devotion to the idea did not fade due to the necessary delays from preparations.
Her exact reasons, however, are not completely as her father thinks. In truth, part of her reason to get a chance to examine the Library in Venus, though her parents had suspected that as part of her justification. Yet Sablerose also wishes to understand how the Princess found the strength to let her heart overrule her dedication to duty, while Calla still struggles with coming to decision herself. It is part of her hope that she can come to some sort of a compromise between her somewhat conflicting natures.
Greystreak: As a Druid of some skill, Sablerose has taken on an animal companion, or a familiar. Normally, these familiars are relatively small animals- birds, rodents or the occasional reptile. They act as advisors, scouts and friends to their ‘Wards’, as the familiars call their respective Druids. Whatever their form, all familiars possess human intelligence and the ability to speak with their Ward telepathically.
Greystreak, it seems, is a bit beyond the norm in many ways. To begin, he is the first wolf to bond with a Druid in decades, as well as the first to bond with a member of the royal family in nearly a century. Additionally, where most familiars are quite content to drop the intermittent word of advice to their Wards, he has no qualms about letting his opinion be known, usually with a very dry wit. Additionally, where other familiars are limited to speaking only to their Wards and other familiars telepathically, Greystreak is capable of speaking to others as well, though projecting to more than a few at a time seems to tire him out. Lastly, he does seem to be somewhat resistant to offensive magics cast directly at him.
Despite all that, Greystreak is much like any other wolf, possessing the heightened senses of hearing and smell and quite sharp teeth and claws.
