I want to preface this by saying if it were up to me, this step would not be taken. However, my hand has been forced by Proboards itself.
As you may know, I'm not one of the originators of this forum; I was granted admin powers due to my status the player for Anactoria to help the real admins. That being the case I received a PM yesterday afternoon on my Anactoria account from the Proboards abuse department. Evidently it has come to their attention that this forum had a section for mature content which is in violation of the ToS (Terms of Service). I was informed that I have 48 hours to delete said section and update our rules section to remove the tactic approval for said adult sections. While the PM did not list actual consequences should we fail comply, a cursory exemption of their ToS and Community Guidelines makes it plain that they are technically within their right to delete any forum for any vilolation.
Will they delete Sapphis Castle if we do not comply? The only answer I can give is I dont know. But I am unwilling to take that risk.
I have attempted to contact Xiulin for guidance, as she is the only admin I have semi regular contact with. However I have not yet heard back from her, and we are already 24 hours into the deadline at this point. So for better or worse The Mature Section of the Outter Unlimits will be deleted effective immediately to comply with the Proboard ToS and their recent warning.
If you, my fellow forum members, or the true admins of the site have an issue with my decision, I apologize. If the admins feel that by doing so I'm overstepping my bounds, the are certainly free to revoke my admin privileges. I'm trying to ensure the continued existence of the rp, it ins current form. Even if this makes people angry at me, at least you'll still have a site to be angry at me on.
On a personal note, I find the particular point in the Proboard ToS to be pointless. There are countless RP forums on probaords or conforums and any other free forum provider you could care to name with mature content happening every single day. I once played on proboard forum where orgies broke out in the middle of classroom, without the benefit of password protection or even having to be logged in. Yet that site remained untouched by their 'abuse' staff for years til the admins closed it down of their own free will. Why this one site is singled out is beyond me. But it is what it is.
