DOWN TO THE FINER POINTS
HEIGHT: 5’6”
WEIGHT: 160 lbs.
HAIR: Black
EYES: Yellow
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Iskierka is a dragonet, and bears the slender frame, pointed ears, and horns of her kind. Though not all dragonets bear one, she sports a tail that falls to her mid calf. Her skin is a bronze color, her horns a shade lighter and whitening towards the tips. Her piercing eyes are a golden yellow, which literally flash with intensity when she is truly angry, which fortunately for everyone else she isn’t often. She has dark black hair that she usually keeps at a short practical length. This practicality is reflected in her general appearance. She wears comfortable traveling clothes that aren’t loose enough as to get in the way, usually preferring dark clothes that do not attract attention, allowing her to slip away into a crowd or a lingering shadow. The only jewelry wears is a single necklace bearing a simple circle carved out of bone, which she is never without. She bears herself with confidence in any situation, this along with her bestial features, dark skin, and yellow eyes giving her a powerful, untamed appearance.
PERSONALITY: Iskierka on the surface seems cold, calculating, and remarkably blunt. Her wild appearance and natural stubbornness do not do much to dissuade others of this notion. Beneath the surface however, Iskierka is a quick witted, funny, and incredibly loyal individual. She is never one to back down form a challenge or when she feels injustice being done. She is practical and calm but not without her sense of humor and natural kindness. To her honor, trust, and love are most important, though she is not one to romanticize or despair when reality does not meet with her ideals.

BELOW THE SURFACE
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Light Build: Dragonet’s retain the light bone structure and wiry strength that their draconic forbearers require for flight. Though Iskierka has no wings, she is still capable of moving with an agility that no human can muster. She can make seemingly impossible leaps and survive long falls with grace and ease, and her tail aids in keeping her balance at all times. In spite of this, Iskierka does not have the stamina for drawn out encounters, she prefers stealth, ambush, and quick thinking to brawn and endurance.
Mental Conditioning: Iskierka has learned well the harsh lessons of the wild, patience, quick thinking, and discipline are key. She has trained herself to remain calm when the situation requires it, think in a calculating and passionless manner. This is necessary for her role as a scout and hunter among the Shadow’s Fangs, and is also the only reason that she is able to control her psionic powers enough for practical use. Most startling is Iskierka’s ability to suppress pain, allowing her to continue to run or fight even while having crippling injuries, the one downside being that she can only maintain this for so long, and once her mental dam breaks, the suppressed pain washes over her like a tidal wave.
WEAPONS: Daggers (3 weighted for throwing, 1 hunting knife), quarterstaff
MAGICAL ABILITIES:
Telekinesis: Iskierka can move light objects with force of will, with the psionic equivalent of a moderate kick. She generally uses it for causing distractions, disarming foes, or retrieving her throwing daggers. If pressed she can unleash her power in a large wave capable of hurling a fully grown humanoid across a room, though the process leaves her severely drained, and requires sleep and meditation to recuperate.
Dragon’s Fear: Though only dragonets of the royal bloodline can take the form of their fiery ancestors, all of Iskierka’s kind retain some of the dragon’s might. The Shadow’s Fangs have long understood that fear can destroy an enemy far more efficiently than any blade. Through an effort of will Iskierka can call upon the terrifying continence of a great wyrm, psionicly assaulting the mind of any living thing with a primal fear. Against beasts or those of particularly weak will, the effects are mortifying, but particularly courageous souls can endure the assault while only being shaken.
FAMILY: One of the Shadow’s Fangs, among this relatively small band of outcasts, no one has any family names. This is to help unify their community, and also simply because most people do not remember their family names, being the children of exiles. The name Shadow’s Fangs is a colloquial moniker, born from the tribe’s penitent for coming up unnoticed and having tongues as sharp as their daggers. Members of the Shadow’s Fangs do have a name for themselves, but no outsider has ever heard it, or ever will. Children are taught from a young age to value the community over the self, and understand that though life is harsh joy and love can still be found in family, honor, and laughter.
BACKGROUND: Iskierka hales from the Blade’s Shadow mountains on the edge of Dragonia’s territory. The land there is rugged and untamed, those who live there little different. Iskierka’s home town is literally carved out of a cliff-face, hidden from the pry of the beasts and outlaws that frequent the area. Though technically those of Iskierka’s family are descended from exiles, and have little place in Dragonian society, at best they are considered barbarians, at worse thought of no better than the traitors and criminals that sired them. Iskierka has grown up under the harsh tutelage of the wilds, learning to survive through adaptation, skill and persistence. Her community is a tightly knit one, so much so that no one bears family names (though everyone knows who is kin and who isn’t) but instead bear a communal name that no outsider has ever heard. Locals who live near the Blade’s Shadow mountains simply call them the Shadow’s Fangs. Children of the tribe are taught from a young age to always put the importance of the community before the self, though each individual has their part to play and should be cherished. Iskierka played the part of the village’s scout, tracker, hunter, and (if necessary) assassin. This has given her a practical and patient attitude, though she is lacking in social graces and is introvertial almost to a fault. She is decisive but thoughtful, and has no tolerance for those who dance around the point or act without thought or consideration of others. Life was harsh and often unforgiving, but Iskierka was always able to find joy and peace in doing her duty, and in the love of her community. This all changed a year ago however, when a particularly large baby boom put a massive drain on the village’s limited resources. Without enough food to go around the Shadow’s Fangs were forced to go to drastic measures, exiling their own to protect their fragile existence. Iskierka and a few other young dragonets volunteered willingly, though she was loathe to leave her only home behind, she could not in good conscience be a burden on her family. To make such a sacrifice is second only to dying for the village, and she and her fellow exiles were treated as heroes. Before departing, Iskierka’s father gave her a single treasure: a carved ring of bone on a leather strap to be worn as a necklace. It symbolized the love that the Shadow’s Fangs had for their own, just as the circle it is eternal, and though time and space may separate Iskierka from her people, she will never forget them or truly part from them, nor them from she. For the last year she has wandered the lands, essentially taking the role of a mercenary, trying to find a place in this foreign and uncertain world. When the call went out for women to come to the imperial court, Iskierka saw this as both a challenge and opportunity to find a way to give back to her village.
