Rhiannon walked slowly and deliberately down the path, examining each statue with a careful eye. It was still a day before her planned adventure with the Princess, and she was impatient. She had decided to explore the city to occupy her mind, but got caught up in the statues as she walked past.
All of Terre de Conte's greatest heroes were here in one place, including a likeness of the first Anactoria's wife. Rhiannon paused in front of that statue and regarded it closely. "How did you win her?" she asked. "How did you know you loved her?"There was, of course, no answer.
Sighing, Rhiannon continued down the path, passing another woman without a glance. Wait--! She spun around quickly to view the other woman. It can't be-- it is! "Iskierka!" she called, running after the other woman. "Iskierka! It's me, Rhiannon!"

Iskierka cocked her head in mute surprise. It was unusual for people to go out of their way to stop and talk to her, let alone know her by name. She turned to look at the onrushing woman just as she was embraced in a strong hug. She returned it wholeheartedly, before gently pulling away and regarding the draconic princess with calculating look.
"Ah, Rhia its been a while". Said Iskierka, arms crossing as she settled into a relaxed leaning position. She smiled good naturedly, momentarily wandering back to when the pair first met when the royal family was on a hunting expedition near the Blade's Shadow Mts. "Ironic that youd be the one to sneak up on me this time, i need to be more careful", quipped the dark-skinned dragonet, her mouth rising into a slight smirk. "Your as beautiful as ever princess, but mine are still bigger" Iskierka said, her eyes flashing with a mischievous gleam.

Rhiannon just blinked at the other woman. "Alright.... Anyways, what are you doing here?" Her eyes shined with excitement at seeing Iskierka again. She was right, it had been a while since they had last seen each other, in fact, that was the time they.... Rhiannon blushed at the thought and regarded her former lover seriously. "Are you here for Anactoria's hand? You must have a thing for princesses."
"How fares the Shadow's Fang? I have not been to the Blade's Shadow in quite some time." Rhiannon examined Iskierka's face, noticing for the first time the weariness etched in her features. "Where are my manners?" she asked herself. "You must be exhausted. Come, you can stay in my chambers until the servants make up a room for you." She turned and walked back towards the palace, any plans for the day forgotten.
"And I absolutely must challenge you to a duel," Rhiannon continued, not even looking to see if the other woman was actually following. "After my shameful loss last time I have been practicing, and I must say I am getting quite skilled with a dagger." She smiled, remembering when Iskierka was first teaching her how to throw a dagger. They were much younger then, and eager for romance. Rhiannon could still feel Iskierka's body pressed up against her own as she demonstrated the proper way to throw.

Iskierka smiled inwardly as she followed after the chattering young woman. Rhia was the more talkative one, though Iskierka never minded, she always liked hearing the princess's sweet voice, her vivacity and spirit, even her pentient for letting her mind wander. She blushed slightly, remembering the warmth of the royal dragon's skin, her subtle scent and joyful laugh and small but strong and comforting hands.
Iskierka had to shake of her memories with reluctance, that was not a part of her life any more, time and duty had seperated the two young lovers. Yet things were diffrent now, Iskierka had time to reawaken the love she had so enjoyed so long ago, for now she was alone.
The crushing reality of her situation came back to her, casting away the warm thoughts and memories stirred by Rhia's unexpected arrival. She paused for a moment, before catching up to the princess and taking hold of her shoulder firmly but gently. Her piercing golden eyes met the deep red of her companion, and she said simply and with necessary detachment. "The Shadow's Fangs fair well, though I have not seen my village for over a year, that part of my life is done".
Though the dark-skinned dragonet showed little emotion, she was sure that Rhia could see through her facade, and she turned her gaze away and closed her eyes, breathing deeply before looking up at the vast sky above her. "But lets not fret about the past eh? You been enjoying the sights?" Iskierka's eyes wandering to the statues nearby, her familiar wry grin flashing across her face.

"Ah," Rhiannon said simply, knowing better than to try and pull the information out of her friend. She saw the longing and sadness in Iskierka's golden eyes and briefly wondered what had happened that she hadn't seen her village for a year, but dismissed the thought when Iskierka did.
"The sights? Yes, they are all very pleasant," Rhiannon said with a mischievous smile. Another woman walked past the pair, a short and curvy woman with curly blond hair. Rhiannon tilted her head towards the woman, "Some more pleasant than others."
"Ah, but are the 'sights' the only reason you are here?" she asked, genuinely curious. "I'd wager not, and I'd wager you aren't here to see me, either."
Rhiannon caught Iskierka's hand in her own and pulled the other dragonet to a bench that sat off the main path. She ran a hand through her curly hair and sighed, "There's time enough for serious matters later-- tell me, what adventures have you had since I saw you last?" She leaned forward in her seat, eager to hear the stories of her friend.

Iskierka chuckled to herself seeing Rhianon in this way; "She always did love stories, like a child with a new toy". The dark-skinned half dragon crossed her legs and leaned forward tilting her head slightly and casually pulling a loose lock of hair behind one of her horns. "No my dear, I did not come to see you, ill count that more as a pleasant surprise, and though the "sights" around here are definitely interesting, that wasn't my reason for being hear either". She stood up suddenly, and began to pace back and forth slowly, her hand on her chin and extenuating each step as if it she were studying it. After a moment she spun on her heel to face the dragonet princess, "Honestly I don't know why im here, it just seems interesting i guess." she said with a shrug. "Ever sense my departure ive been on the road, people may not recognize me for what i am, but to anyone i am a foreigner, strange, uncomfortable, but useful". A dark smirk formed on her thin lips, "People may not hunt for food in the cities but they do need hunters, for people, information, secrets, bargaining chips, whatever anyone needs to get a leg up... And there is no prey that i cannot eventually find and take down". She said this without a sense of arrogance but with finality, from someone who would accept no less than the best from them self. She plopped back down again unceremoniously, and looked into the eyes of her companion suddenly, "Though one quarry seems to be particularly illusive, and that is a purpose... im still looking for that, and that hunt has lead me hear for better or for worse". Iskierka stopped for a moment to take a breath, and feel the air passing through her body, "Or where you asking for something more specific?" She asked with a mischievous grin, "Tales of daring do, and quick escapes, and comfy wool socks stolen in the dead of night?" She rolled her eyes and scratched the back of her head ruefully "Not that I would know anything about that".
