It was past mid-night, and Teleia could not sleep. In her night dress, one that looked suited for a child, she made her way to the library. She had heard it held many books, so she figured perhaps one of them could answer one of her most taunting questions.
She walked into the library, and was instantly taken a back by the sight of all the books. "Oh this is going to take awhile." She was a little discouraged by all of the books.
"Hello?" she decided to call out, in hope that maybe someone who knew the library, and could help her find the right section. She was pretty sure no one would be there, but she had to try just in case. Besides with all these books, she could not possibly do it by herself.

Mountains of literature were stacked all around Zdena. The inventor needed valuable reasearch and there was no better place to start than the castle's library. After all, since she was here, she might as well take advantage.
She had camped out for some time, flipping through pages and shifting the stacks around. After all, they needed to be neatly piled atop one another, lest all hell break loose in the library.
A voice broke a silence that had been held for some time. Beneath the wide brim of her hat, Zdena turned and looked around. Had she imagined it? Seeking a clock, she noted the passage of time and stood to her feet.
You are...investigating? wondered Effie, as the glowing orb was scooped up in the half-elf's arms.
"Yes." she replied, "If there are to be interruptions, we may as well experience them now."

Teleia had starting walking through the library as she waited for a reply from someone, or something. Soon she heard something, she was not sure what it was, but she hoped it was another person. Someone who may know their way around this gigantic library.
She made her way through vast room. She did not have any luck finding anyone however, she didn’t really know where the voice had come from or if there was even a voice. She stopped and looked around for a second, realizing she didn’t even know how to get back to where she was. It was dark after all.
“U...um h...hello?” she managed to shake out. Her eyes started to swell with tears. She was in a room she was not used too with barely any light to speak of. She had to admit she was getting scarred. She sunk to her knees, as more fear washed over her.

Zdena never had many issues with light. For the longest time, Effie had always been able to provide more than enough light for her to navigate effectively around dark areas. Such was the case in the nearly vacant library.
The soft orange glow carried a long way. Much longer, than it usually did. The voice that had first gained her attention had only piped up once. And it wasn't all that loud.
So, she wandered around some more. The orange light, eventually revealed a rather small-looking girl. Probably because she was on her knees, looking ready to burst out crying.
"Oh. Hello." she said.

Every second that Teleia was alone in the dark, was one second before she burst into crying. Thankfully enough someone had showed up just in time to save the Fogling from doing so. She looked up, as she wiped few tears from her eyes. She took in the girl, and the strange thing she was carrying. She did not care what it was, just that it gave off light.
“H..hi.” she said with a sniffle. She wanted to leap towards the new arrival and attach herself to her, but she knew that would not be proper. She did stand though, her legs still shaking a bit with fear. “H..have you come to s..save me from the dark?” she asked in a child like manner. She did hope this girl was her knight in shining armor.

So it was a child that had wandered into the library. One that was about her size. Yes, her height had been inconvenient at times. Still, the girl was in distress. And now, she asked a rather bizarre question. Zdena tilted her head.
The darkness was no threat. It simply was an absence of light. Inconvenient at times, but what possible harm could it bring? Then again, she supposed, children were irrational.
"Apparently." she replied.

Apparently? Apparently was a yes, or as close to a yes as Teleia needed to lose sight of her senses. With out any form of warning the child like girl, lept from where she stood and hugged the other female.
“Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!” she said over and over again, as she hugged her with all her might. Which was not much, she was frail when it came to a physical build. “I...I am Teleia, by the way.” She offered as she held on tightly. She was not concerned with how proper this was, she had no plans of letting go.

Zdena simply stood there and was hugged. Effie, meanwhile, was sandwiched between the two, the light it cast being forced out towards the sides.
"Quite welcome, I guess." Zdena said, in between "Thank You"s. Now she would need to find where this girl was staying and probably deliver her, safely. That would take some time.
"Zdena Kardos Kilvorion." she returned her name in kind, looking at Teleia. Which was not hard to do, as there was practically no distance between the two. It would seem that the girl had no intentions of letting go.

Keeping her grasp on Zdena, she looked at her as well. Her tears hadt stopped, but the wet marks they left on her face remained. An idea popped into her head, now that this girl was here she could probably find what she was looking for.
“Since you are um here. Could you help me find a book. It is the reason I came here after all.” She smiled widely hoping that this other girl would know where books were kept in this library, and that she would be willing to help her out.

It was a reasonable request. And were the library staff present, she would have simply directed her to those most suited for such a task. But, they were not.
"Perhaps. I am newly arrived, so I am still unfamiliar." she stated, "We can, however, attempt to locate this book. It would be much easier with Effie's help than ordinary candles."
Is there time for this? thought Effie.
"Yes, we may as well assist her further." Zdena answered, "Searching in the dark can get rather inconvenient."

The sound of a third voice startled Teleia, however instead of turning into fog like she normally did, she clenched onto Zdena tighter. She was really easy to startle it would seem. With arms tightly clenched around Zdena, she whispered.
“W...who are you t....talking too?” fear had returned to her voice, and her body was obviously shaking, a lot actually. Something that might prove a little inconvenient at this time. She really needed to work on her ability to be frightened.

"Oh...I am merely speaking with Effie." she answered, as if it were perfectly normal. Then realization dawned on her, "Ah, yes...I doubt you heard it. I so often forget that others can hear."
She nodded her head. It was a little hard to perform the action with the shaking Teleia being so close. She stood a few moments longer, waiting for the Fogling to detach herself.
"It may be best if you let go." she said, "Otherwise, moving will be difficult."

She had trouble getting herself away from the girl, but she did manage to do so. Still shaking she moved back from the Zdena, and watched. She was not sure what the other was up to, but if it was bad she could just turn into fog and run away.
Her eyes stayed focus on her. She was so concentrating that her face started to look a little more serious than normal, which did not suit her really. “Sh..should I h..hide behind something?” She decided to ask, to make sure she would be safe.

"No, that is unnecessary." Zdena said. She simply held up her glowing orb, "Effie will provide light."
The girl was skittish. It seemed she would be the type to be frightened of her own shadow. Zdena wondered if her explanations were enough to ease the Fogling's worries. Probably not, she reasoned.
"Now then. What was it that you were looking for?"

Teleia starred at the light. The light is Effie?....Cool! She thought with a smile. Sometimes having the mind of a child was not such a bad thing. Especially when it came to times like this, when she was scared.
“Oh um yes....the book. Well what book I don’t know, but I want to know if Foglings have made an impact on the world outside of Asteria.” she said happily staring at the girl. “We really are a great people, so I thought maybe we have helped in the past. So do you know of an books mentioning a Fogling hero?”
