"How about giving me your hat as a reward?" The Countess asked smiling as she put it on her head, just as soon as she put her own on top of Zdena's. "Never mind the equation, it wasn't used for making my house travel through time, just for maintaining my clock's perfect clockwork precision."
Standing up wearing her friend's hat, she showed herself out the door leaving Zdena to organize her army. She found the carriage and sat down on the steps, putting her chin on her palm, she wondered how the girl would look like as the commander of a robot army. Cute, probably.

"Very well." it seemed she had little say in the matter, however. Angelina had left with the hat atop her head. It was an odd look for the inventor, given the fact it was her most common accessory next to Effie. But, she could always buy another hat.
The house would have to wait, as well. There was work to be done and there would be time enough to further study it's strange properties once their current business concluded. Zdena rounded up all of the Clock Guard she could spare. It meant progress on her main project would have to be slowed, but it would be well worth the cost.
---
She arrived outside with a sizable force of Clock Guard and two modified Luggage Walkers. The Walkers were affixed with ballistas. She hadn't given them proper field testing, but they were least likely of her prototypes to underperform. They were the simplest designs, after all.
"I am ready." she announced when she neared Angelina, "Let's begin."
Allowing the Countess to enter first, Zdena climbed into the carriage and soon the journey begun. The carriage was flanked by two rows of mechanized warriors, eating marching in precision timing.
"Ah...so, that's how it works." Zdena said as she looked out the window. The equation seemed to make so much more sense as she observed her inventions.

Angelina smiled, patted her head, and then went inside the carriage. As the carriage rolled on, She couldn't help but notice the young girl's fascination with her updated automatons, the Countess was quite pleased that her completed equations brought forth such interest. It also made the robots all the more intimidating, a conquering army on its way to glory, that's what it looked like.
The carriage made its through the winding roads, ending up at the base of a rather large mountain. The face of this mountain was rather hard to climb, there were seemingly no good places one would be able bring a carriage of any sorts. This was quite a problem, though there seems to be a small trail winding its way up to the top. "Guess we're walking." She sighed stepping out of the carriage. Looking up at the mountain, the first challenge already seemed quite difficult.

It was always an exciting thing to come across a new discovery. Even if she didn't quite show it, Zdena was feeling it. There would have to be more adjustments made later. The carriage carried them on their path. At this rate it would not take them long at all to reach their destination.
Or...it might be just a bit longer. The carriage had reached a point where it was no longer able to continue. Zdena took a few moments to ponder just what improvements could be made to ensure passage over such treacherous terrain. Not that it mattered, now. She was far away from any usable materials that would aid her.
"Hm." she pondered, "At the very least the Clock Guard are here."
She hopped out of the carriage and joined Angelina on the road. There was still a bit of a ways to go. "They will prove a valuable resource, I believe."

"At the very least." The Countess agreed leaning against one of these metal soldiers. "I'm sure there's nothing up there that would actually try to kill us, right?" She said smiling, assuming the best case scenario.
Opening her umbrella, she put it over her head and started the trek up the the cliff face. The narrow ledge was usable, but it was quite hard as some part of it would shake a little and others crumbled underfoot, these left the Countess quite flustered. "Be careful Zdena, apparently these poor peasants don't even have the time to maintain their home." She said rolling her eyes, after another part of the walkway crumbled and fell.

"Indeed." she nodded, "I doubt anyone has set foot in this area in years."
She navigated behind Angelina and behind her was the procession of Clock-Guard. It was slow moving, but they were slowly but surely making progress. Truth be told, she didn't know what would be waiting for them. There just wasn't enough data.
The path eventually took them to the ruins of a castle. Time and the elements had wreaked havoc on what had once been an impressive structure. The tall tower had collapsed, it's pieces lay strewn about. The walls were torn down and the wind whistled around the skeleton of the old castle.
"Follow me." she instructed, "What we seek will be in the basement. It should have survived most of the damage."

"A barren glory of sorts?" The Countess mused finding the time to make fun of such a destroyed place. The castle was quite beautiful in a post-apocalyptic kind of way.
"Never fight in the basement. It's near impossibly to escape from." The Countess shrugged holding her pocket-watch out as a blade appeared out of it followed by a handle on the opposite side. "I'm prepared for anything should we have to fight."
The woman walked over to the door and kicked it open. She grinned looking back at the little girl in the big hat. "I've always wanted to do that."

"An accurate assessment." Zdena nodded. "A bunker mentality is not always the best. But when countering a siege, it may provide one with enough time to regroup and attack when the enemy is weary. Or so I have read. Military tactics tend to make for dry reading."
Of course, this was a matter of personal taste. This was the same person who reads industrial schematics with her breakfast. Zdena quirked an eyebrow at the blade, "I presume this weapon is slightly more...conventional?" she inquired. It certainly would be handy to summon such blades at a moments notice.
The Countess kicked down the door and it gave way rather easily. A light breeze would probably have been enough to garner their passage. But, Angelina appeared to be enjoying herself. Zdena and her machines followed. The mobile ballistas remained outside, standing watch over the old ruins should anything try to enter after them.
"Be mindful of traps, Countess." she said, "I doubt the previous owners were mindful enough to disarm them as they departed."
